  • Sensitive Skin and Irritated Scalp: SILKARE RSPO-MB is the New Cosmetic Solution

The choice of beauty products should respect a fundamental paradigm: ensuring the health of our skin and hair.

However, this becomes very complicated when dealing with sensitive skin and an irritated scalp.

Let's explore the causes of these issues and discover how a revolutionary ingredient can be the solution to ensure the well-being of our skin and hair.

Sensitive Skin and Irritated Scalp: What Are the Causes?

Sensitive skin and irritated scalps are often the result of multiple factors, both external and internal.

Among external factors, the most impactful is undoubtedly the choice of inappropriate cosmetic products that contain overly aggressive chemical agents, such as bleaching, coloring treatments, and perms. Also, cleansing products containing foaming agents based on parabens, SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), and SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), known to be strong for both the epidermis and the scalp.

In addition to this, environmental factors such as pollution and UV rays, to which we are constantly exposed, should not be underestimated. These factors can further sensitize the epidermis. Internal causes within our bodies include irregular metabolism, which can generate an imbalance in the sebum production process, and stress, which produces free radicals that alter the structure of the epidermis.

The Importance of the Hydrolipidic Film for Irritated Skin and Scalp

The hydrolipidic film is a crucial barrier that maintains the water balance of the skin.

When this layer is compromised, the skin becomes more susceptible to irritations and redness. It is therefore essential to use products that respect and support this delicate protective barrier.

The hydrolipidic film is mainly composed of lipids, forming an impermeable layer that retains water and protects the skin from harmful external agents. Maintaining this barrier is fundamental to preserve the health and appearance of the skin.

A Definitive Solution: Affinity Cleansing

As mentioned earlier, products based on surfactants and foaming agents cleanse too aggressively, as they do not respect the physiological skin barrier, namely the hydrolipidic film covering the skin and scalp. They also attack the keratin of the hair, altering its physiological functions.

This type of cleansing is defined by contrast because surfactant substances combine with rinse water, forming foam, and take away dirt and substances that the skin and hair need. Contrast cleansing over the years has indeed shown excessive cleansing power, too aggressive for the skin and hair.

Affinity cleansing, on the other hand, is based on formulations that use oils or mixtures of substances that respect the skin and hair, promoting gentle cleansing that does not alter the conformation of the skin and scalp, while remaining effective. Specifically, it is guaranteed by a fatty substance (oil or milk) that has oily components similar to the hydrolipidic film of the skin—composed, in fact, of a mixture of water, amino acids, and fats. This oily substance, by affinity of chemical structure, incorporates dirt and part of the hydrolipidic film to which it adheres but, at the same time, reintegrates the protective barrier of the skin, scalp, and hair. Dirt is thus removed, while the hydrolipidic film is left in conditions suitable to maintain its regular structure.

SILKARE RSPO-MB: The Definitive Answer for Caring for Sensitive Skin and Scalp

Creating cosmetics for sensitive hair and skin is a real challenge in terms of formulation. Developers must balance the effectiveness and stability of the cleansing product with the need to preserve the integrity of the hydrolipidic film.

The use of fatty phases, such as vegetable oils, in aqueous solutions inevitably alters the stability and viscosity of these solutions, not allowing the formulator to include such ingredients. This effectively makes it impossible to obtain a clear cosmetic product, such as a cleansing gel, with a fatty phase inside.

Choosing the right ingredients is crucial to overcome these challenges, and that's why we decided to develop a highly efficient product like SILKCARE RSPO-MB. It allows formulating cosmetic products that gently cleanse the skin and scalp, regenerating the hydrolipidic film, and at the same time, enabling the production of a stable and viscous finished product, without resorting to synthetic thickeners or vegetable gums.
